The photos don’t do this Lenox lamp justice. Made of porcelain in the creamiest of whites with 22- or 24-kt gold embellishments and brass fittings, this lamp dates from between 1950 and 1953 (see history below). The faces and tulip or lily shapes on the handles look both neo-classical and Art Deco, a nod to earlier design styles, including those from early 19th century France. Both front and back have a gold wreath design with a lyre, stars, scrolls, ribbons, flowers, and acanthus leaf. The base is supported by a metal plate with four ball feet. The rod has an extender that allows for adjustment to accommodate the size shade of your choice. A delicate beaded design embellishes the metal plate at the top of the urn. The sockets have pull chains, but there is also an inline switch that allows for turning the lamp on and off without using the pull chains. (I prefer using chandelier-style lightbulbs in this type of lamp because they are slender allowing for some space between them and the rod–not included). Excellent preowned vintage condition, and suitable for a variety of interior decor styles. See below for components and dimensions.
