Vintage early 20th century landscape painting on artist’s board (cardboard), with wooden backing in lovely old frame. The painting has suffered damage over time, specifically, the varnish on the right half appears to have been wet at some point and has run down the surface of the painting; there are also several scratches, mostly on the right half of the painting. I’ve shown several views for reference. In addition, there’s a section in the lower left corner, about the size of a silver dollar, where the paint is missing and red paint is showing through. The painting could easily be restored by someone with the right expertise. The scene is actually very beautiful and serene: trees and shrubs on an island viewed from the shore of a lake with a rowboat in the lower right corner. Lovely earth tones for a very autumnal look. The medium appears to be something other than oil, but it’s hard to tell. Overall measurements are 20.25″ x 11.75″; the actual painting measures 18.5″ x 10″. Unsigned and undated; there’s pencil writing on the back of the board that looks like “Nip Road” [??]. The gilded gesso-on-wood frame is in very good vintage to antique condition. The original hanging wire and nails are present. Price reflects condition.
