Vintage Turkish copper soap box is a beautiful piece for styling with or use it as storage. It is handcrafted with a working latch and hook. I am unsure of exact age for this piece however you can see the age on this piece in photos. These were historically used to hold soap for a traditional Turkish bath called “Hammams”. Most commonly used during the Ottoman Empire (1299-1923) however were still produced later as for decorative purposes, for collectors or tourists. Copper was often used because of its durability and antimicrobial properties. Often tinned on the inside (like this piece) to prevent corrosion from the soap.
