This exquisitely moody landscape painting is done by famed artist, “Karl” Charles Ross. Painted on wood panel, this oil is in excellent condition with no major signs of wear. The gilded frame is also in superb condition with only minor shine loss to the gilding along the edge. Each loop along the edge has a purposeful hole for an added decorative touch. The back has tape along the edge that I have purposely left since it has clues to its past auction’s and origins; though it is loosely hanging on. Comes with a rope hanger in useable condition. Signed lower left “Charles Ross”.
Karl Charles Ross was a German painter born November 1816, died 1858. His brother was archaeologist, Ludwig Ross; he would often travel with his brother and paint the scenes from the landscapes they were visiting.
