Collection of antique books entitled THE LIBRARY OF ENTERTAINMENT, A Thousand Hors of Enjoyment with the World’s Great Writers, six volumes: I, II, IV, VII, VIII and IX. Published in 12 volumes plus a handbook, these books consist of a literary anthology featuring hundreds of authors, from antiquity through the 19th century, original copyright date 1910 by Geo. L. Shuman & Co.; this is the 1920 edition. It contains numerous color illustrations of homes and locales associated with some of the writers. Beautiful silver leaf endpapers and gilded top fore edges. The covers are burgundy cloth and black leather-look textured paper with gold lettering. Each book measures approx. 9.75″ x 6″ x 1.5″. Overall very good antique condition–this is a visual observation and not an official rating–there is shelf wear, particularly on the corners and some damage on the spines. Vol. I has some minor moisture stains along the bottom edge of the first couple of pages following the endpapers. Great for shelf styling, but also excellent addition to the classics library for countless hours of reading pleasure.
